I feel like I’ve been given a spiritual gift from my birthday. I feel like it’s the first time I’ve spent a birthday without my parents, which I always want to do. I feel like it’s the first time I’ve gotten to do something with my friends that I wouldn’t have the ability to do if I were still living at home.
I feel like it may be the first time Ive seen my birthday as a birthday and not just a birthday. I feel like it’s the first time Ive had a birthday that I did not have to go to school for, and that I didn’t have to buy presents for all the other kids my age.
I was once told that getting your birthday early is a good thing. I think its the first time Ive ever felt a sense of accomplishment from something Ive spent some time working towards. I can now spend most of my time at home, do homework, and eat ice cream without having to worry about buying something. I can also enjoy a nice meal without worrying about what I have to get for my birthday dinner.
I’m really glad I have a late birthday. I spent half of last week feeling guilty because I was so lazy and didn’t do anything to celebrate my birthday. I also spent the other half of my birthday thinking, “What the hell am I going to get?” Luckily, I was able to have my cake and eat it too.
I have never felt guilt about spending time on my birthday. I am so blessed to not have to worry about what to get, and to be able to enjoy a nice meal.
It’s funny, I have been thinking about the “spiritual meaning” of my birthday for a while now, and I think its because I was busy with work and stuff. I really did have some fun stuff I was doing during my birthday, and I wanted to feel like I could do more.
Of course, your birthday has a spiritual meaning. You probably think this, but its really the fact that you were able to spend time with your family and not worry about what to buy. Yes, there are times when you feel guilty about buying stuff, but your birthday is a day to celebrate not guilt about what you are buying.
The whole concept of buying birthday presents is that you are saying “I’m thankful for the gifts that I have,” but you are also saying “I’m thankful for the time I have with my family.” It’s an amazing gift to get.
A day of birthdays is a day of celebration and the thought to buy gifts for people is, like you said, to show how happy you are with the time you have with your family. Sure, spending money on presents is a little selfish, but buying the presents you want to buy is not.
Birthdays are a time to reflect on the past year and to celebrate the good times you have with your family.
